• One month work placement assisting with communications and business development for a Chinese logistics firm.

Caseworker

• Responsible for handling constituency casework received via e-mail, letter, telephone and at surgeries; liaising with government agencies; voluntary organisations and local government to solve constituents’ problems.

Arc Light, York

• Arc Light provides accommodation and support to homeless people in York. I assisted in the kitchen at meal times, helping the chef and serving residents.

Azafady

• Organised a week long fundraising event on campus in aid of Azafady, a UK charity and Malagasy NGO working for poverty reduction and development in Madagascar.

Northampton Hope Centre

• Northampton Hope Centre is a day centre providing support for the homeless and disadvantaged. As part of the kitchen team, I prepared and served meals to clients, helping with other client-facing tasks, including the administration of a clothing bank.

Chair, New Generation Society, University of York

• The NGS is a non-partisan group of young people and students dedicated to developing new thinking on the challenges and opportunities for our generation. As Chair, I am responsible for the overall running of the society.

Independent Overland Travel in Sub-Saharan Africa

• Travelled overland from Nairobi to Cape Town through Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Swaziland, and South Africa using public transport.

Solo Travel in South East Asia

Expedition to Peruvian Andes

• Selected for and took part in a 6 week expedition to the Peruvian Andes with BSES Expeditions, part of the Royal Geographical Society. Undertook field research into geology and glacier retreat.
